What you need to know about the show

Is there a dress code for NLC special events?

While there is no set dress code for NLC’s events, it is expected that all in attendance will dress in an appropriate manner. Attire may be casual, smart casual or business/informal.

Are event attendees required to show ID?

NLC practices a Check 25 program in its Liquor Stores whereby anyone who appears under the age of 25 will be asked to show ID; the same policy holds true for special events. Please bring government issued identification to the event to prove that you are at least 19 years of age. Management may refuse entrance without sufficient proof of age.

What considerations are taken for patrons with severe food allergies?

NLC strives to provide food choices suitable for all guests in attendance. While it cannot be guaranteed that all selections are allergen free, NLC will accommodate as best as possible. If you have a serious food allergy, please make it known to our event staff and the highest effort will be made to provide a selection for you.

What is the ticket policy for NLC events?

There are no exchanges or refunds for special event tickets. Upon cancellation of an event with no replacement date, tickets may be refunded pursuant to conditions set forth by the promoter. Tickets are void if falsified, modified, or declared stolen. The holder of the ticket assumes any and all liabilities as to the risks and dangers that may result from the event and waives any claims for loss or damage whatever the cause, incurred or suffered, whether occurring before, during or after the event. Rules in force or displayed on the premises of the event apply to the use of the ticket. The holder of the ticket waives any claims in relation to the caption or transmission of his/her picture on site of the event. Management reserves the right to refuse access to the event or evict any person whose behavior is deemed inappropriate with or without a refund. All attendees must be 19 years or older and may be asked to show ID.

Is there a place to store personal belongings while attending events?

At each NLC event, attendees may make use of a coat check, usually operated by the venue staff. A reasonable charge is applicable as determined by management of the venue. NLC is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Are NLC special events wheelchair accessible?

NLC makes every effort to hold events at locations that are accessible to all. If you have any questions about a particular venue or have any special accommodation requests, please feel free to contact us and we will make every effort to assist you.

What measures does NLC take to ensure events are held in a socially responsible manner?

All servers at NLC events are trained through the “Server Program” offered by Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador (HNL). Servers are responsible for the safety of show attendees and part of their responsibility is to prevent intoxication and to refuse to serve intoxicated show attendees. The following sample size limitations are in place at all events to ensure responsible consumption:

  • Wine: ½ oz per serving
  • Beer: 2-4oz per serving
  • Spirits (mixed): 2-4oz per serving
  • Spirits: ¼ to ½ oz per serving

Signage is printed for each event to educate servers and consumers about appropriate sample sizes.

Security is present at each event to ensure the safety of guests and has the right to refuse service and remove show attendees from the event in extreme circumstances.

A $10 taxi voucher is included with event tickets at all St. John’s events to ensure guests have a safe and sober ride after the event. NLC cannot offer this service outside the metro area due to limitations with taxi availability.

How does NLC choose new products to be featured at Liquor Stores after special events?

NLC’s Category Management team takes the following factors into consideration when deciding product listings for Liquor Stores:

  • Taste Profile (scores, ratings, reviews)
  • Varietals and region/origin
  • Space availability in stores
  • Demand for the particular product
  • Supplier support
  • Packaging
  • Price point
  • Product availability
  • Sell through at events
